[rec.guns] My Long Gun for rural property

thr1@ra.MsState.Edu (Tom Ritter) (06/20/91)

My favorite rifle was forgotten!! :-)

I wanted to suggest that instead of the 30-30 you might consider the
35 Remington. It's chambered in the same kind of guns, ( lever
action carbines) and is a FINE caliber.

The 30-30 might have a little extra in range, but the 35 has a real
advantange in stopping power, and that little branch that might
be between you and the growling dog is'nt as much of a problem.

The extra bullet size of the 35 make it great for lot's of tasks at
the rural home. ( Not as much range, better stopping power...)

BTW

Anybody out there tried on in a Thompson Center Contender? I think
I could enjoy handgun hunting for something besides squirrel with
that.... :-)
