Just a simple question, what is the difference between a
carbine and a rifle ??

Thanks

Barrel length. At one time, any rifle less than 24" barrel length
was a carbine; I think 20" is now the standard.

Rifles are generally shorter :-). One often sees a "regular" model and a
shorter "carbine" model for many different rifles. In terms of just how
short it should be, a good measure is the width of a door (so you can
run around in a building and not pull a Three Stooges).
