I managed to pick up a Webely Mk VI at the San Jose gun show last weekend. I had been looking for one for a long time. I know there were probably several hundred thousand made. This was the first one I have seen. The guy had a .38 too which was interesting. The gun I bought was originally a .455 that is now set up for .45 acp with full moon clips. The cylinder was machined down to accommodate the acp's. I wish it was in the original caliber however being able to shoot .45's is pretty convenient. This is a big ugly break action revolver. It has a transfer bar to open the gun to the left of the hammer. It is double action with a pretty smooth although heavy da pull. Does anyone else out there collect Webley's or own one? Mine has a 1918 patent date on it and '18 near the top of the gun. Any info on it would be greatly appreciated. This gun is in very good condition (functionally) and I'll be taking it to the range soon. A revolver in .45 with these full moon clips is really convenient. It's like just plopping in the whole speed loader. Now I'm considering a S&W 625! Maybe I'll take the webley to my friends ipsc practice so they stop making fun of my 9mm Browning. ;) -Sean Browne browne@apple.com
