[rec.guns] What is the DCM?

ejohnson@cs.washington.edu (Eric Johnson) (06/25/91)

I have heard in this newsgroup and in NRA literature (which I recently joined)
references to the DCM. Could somebody please explain to me exactly what the DCM
is and how one would get involved? Thanks...

The DCM is the "Division Of Civilian Marksmanship" administered by the
U.S. Army and is intended to keep civilians up on marksmanship skills.

The side benefit of this program is that qualified participants may
have the opportunity to purchase an M1Garand for $165.00.

Contact your local rifle club(s) and/or the NRA to obtain information
concerning "DCM affiliated" clubs in your area.
