[rec.guns] FBI 10mm Recall

gmk@falstaff.mae.cwru.edu (Geoff Kotzar) (06/28/91)

I ran across a bit of gossip which those of you following the 10mm
development might be interested in. It comes from the Handgun Hunters
International news letter and the colomn was authored by J.D. Jones.
It is very short so I will quote it:

" Now that we have touched on accuracy lets look at a reliability problem.
The FBI has been concerned with what might be called the '10mm problem'
for quite some time. Industry insiders have been aware of it for quite
some time and you haven't read anything about it. Guess why. Well, it's
too late for a coverup now. The FBI has pulled all of the 10mm S&W's
from service and returned them to S&W who continues to be interested in
solving the mechanical problems."

Anybody out there heard anything more specific on the problems with the
S&W guns?

I've heard similar stories. The obvious solution is a large purchase of
Glock 20s or 22s.... :)
