Hiya multimedia gurus, I would like to hear from people who are involved in producing animated sequences on the Macintosh. We are setting up a IIcx with a 24 bit real-time video frame grabber card and an RGB -> NTSC Composite/S-Video box for output to videotape. I am trying to locate software that can animate a sequence of images using both the hard disk and RAM to full advantage, i.e. assuming that there are a 100 images in the animation, but only 20 can be loaded into memory at one time, the program must be able to animate these images using some kind of buffering technique wherein it is able to do three things simultaneously; animate the frames in RAM while throwing out frames as soon as they are no longer needed and simultaneously read the disk to pull in new frames. I've taken a look at Macromind Director, but that program seems to load information into memory in 'chunks' - animate them - throw out the old chunk - read in a new one for animation and so on. This causes a noticeable gap between chunks. I have heard that Hypercard is able to do good memory management and access the hard disk at the same time. Are there any other animation programs that are able to do what I'm looking for, either independently or in concert with Hypercard ? Any tips, thoughts, advice, info on software will be deeply appreciated. Sundar_Prasad@mtsg.ubc.ca <Internet> userffa3@ubcmtsg <Bitnet> Civil Engineering UBC, Vancouver V6T 1W5 CANADA <Snailnet>
