I am interested in experimenting with multimedia techniques on the Mac, but have very little experience so far. What are the most interesting systems available? I have heard that Hypercard and Macromind Director are popular, but to me they seem a little limited. I'm using a Mac IIci, colour screen, with a Digidesign AudioMedia board and Sample Cell (excellent digital audio system). What are the most popular ways of getting some type of high-quality video interface? I only know of the nuVista which seems kind of expensive. How important/useful is a CD rom or laser disk drive? What systems can be used to develop one's own CD-rom or laser disk? I guess I'm basically interested in creating some kind of "interactive cinema", with high-quality video (preferably motion) or animation integrated. Is there anything like DVI available on the Mac? As far as motion video, has anyone seen/heard of a system which can play video from the hard disk or CD-ROM? (I saw a demo of a system from Super Mac Technologies, but at the time it was still a prototype). I'd be interested in hearing what other people are doing as far as creative (i.e., non-commercial/non-promotional/non-educational) work... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | Jeff Mann Inter/Access Artists' Computer Centre, Toronto [416] 535-8601 | | intacc!mann@cs.toronto.edu Matrix Artists' BBS: [416] 535-7598 2400 8N1 | | ...uunet!mnetor!intacc!mann mann@intacc.uucp [416] 535-1443 Telebit 8N1 | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
