I am posting this on behalf of a technology intelligence organization:
The organization in question has two problems with their paper flow now:
1. Circulation information (articles, etc) take a long time to pass
through the group and is often stale before it reaches the last reader.
Copies have been tried, but at a great expense.
2. Shared documents are not readily available. A server has been installed
and a common document processing tool set has been defined with some
success. Better documentation of documents are needed.
The department in question is looking for, a multimedia system which fits the
following specifications:
1. It must run on in a Novell environment.
2. All attached devices are Mac/II and DOS+VGA.
3. Scanners and Postscript printers are available.
4. Each user should be presented with some index into a their environment.
a. Their own MSWord (or some other word processor) documents.
b. Copies of read-only documents sent out for review or read in.
5. It is presumed that documents can be:
a. Created via some word processor
b. Scanned in and distributed (e.g., circulated readings)
c. Enter or exit the local environment to remote hosts.
d. Document interchange software be available.
e. Documents enter or exit the system from FAX. Telex would also
be helpful.
In short, the package(s) should manage all internal electronic documents.
E-mail may be an exception... There are mail gateways to their current
systems.
Does anyone sell/know of any such products?
