The latest version of netnews permits one to unsubscribe to the newsgroup to which the current article belongs by using the u command. This is implimented by changing the : following the newsgroup name in the .newsrc file to a ! thus eliminating the need to have huge options lines of the form options -n all !xxx !yyy !.... which overflow the capabilities of news.
