Suggest you pop over to your library and get a copy of: MACINTOSH MULTIMEDIA HANDBOOK published by Que, written/edited by Tony Bove and Cheryl Rhodes, ISBN 0-88022-577-7. Good start and covers hard-, soft-, and firm-ware options for the Mac. Greetings. I get the feeling I'm about to ask a FAQ - my apologies to the regular readers of this newsgroup. Usually, I'd spend a couple of weeks lurking in this group just to get a feel for the general state of affairs before asking a question - but I'm on a short timeline so I'll just barge right in :) I need to do a quick study on the current capabilities of hypermedia systems - especially what's available to run on a PC/Mac today. I'm especially interested in the multi-media capabilities of such systems - the ability to store voice/video/graphics etc and access it in real-time or near real-time through a hypermedia system. Can any one recommend any good references (journal articles, magazine articles, books, whatever), products to look at, sources of information, etc... I'd really be grateful. I've been given a short timeline to look into the feasibility of a project based on such systems, so I need to get up to speed quick. BTW, about the only hyper-anything I'm familiar with at this point is HyperCard for the Mac. Thanks, and sorry for the FAQ. -Nick P.S. Is there a monthly "Welcome to comp.multimedia" posting ? If there is, and someone has a copy, I'd sure appreciate it if they'd fire a copy my way... -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nick Wilde wilde@cs.colorado.edu
