CALL FOR PAPERS
EURO-VHDL'91
SECOND EUROPEAN CONFERENCE ON VHDL METHODS
8th-11th SEPTEMBER 1991
at
Swedish Institute of Microelectronics
Stockholm, Sweden
SPONSORED BY
IFIP WG10.5 and WG10.2, IEEE, ERICSSON Telecom AB,
SIEMENS AG, GI/ITG - Germany, MEKAN - Sweden.
CONFERENCE THEME
This conference will offer a forum for the open discussion of a variety
of issues focussing on VHDL and its use for the specification, development
and logistics support of electronic circuits and systems design.
BACKGROUND
In the past few years, the IEEE Hardware Description Language VHDL
(IEEE STD 1076-1987) has become increasingly accepted as a viable
and important tool for use in the design process. In addition to
the support it receives from the DoD (which has defined VHDL as a
requirement for Application Specific Integrated Circuits), VHDL is
now widely supported by a range of commercial tool vendors. Organisations
such as the IEEE, EIA and VHDL Users' Groups are now seeking to contribute
further to the improvement of VHDL. This task is particularly valuable
at this time as the standard is coming up for re-balloting in 1992.
European efforts in the support of VHDL have strengthened greatly
since early 1990. There is a large, strong users' group and very
active participation in the standardisation efforts through industrial
and research cooperations some of which are supported by the Commission
of the European Community.
CONFERENCE and TUTORIAL PROGRAMME
A full day of Tutorials will be held on Sunday, September 8th 1991.
The paper and poster presentations will take place from Monday September
9th to Wednesday September 11th 1991.
VHDL FORUM FOR CAD IN EUROPE
VHDL Forum for CAD in Europe meetings and working sessions will be
organised on Wednesday September 11th.
CAD VENDORS EXHIBITION AND PRESENTATIONS
CAD vendors will be exhibiting their VHDL tools from Monday to Wednesday
September 11th in parallel with the conference sessions.
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Any one involved in electronic design or CAD is welcome to attend
and to submit a contribution to this conference. Abstracts for consideration
for presentation at the Conference are invited. The topics to be
covered include, but are not limited to:
VHDL as a logistics and life cycle support tool
VHDL for mixed mode simulation
Using VHDL with existing simulators
Design experience using VHDL
Contributions to VHDL standardisation
Developments of the VHDL Intermediate Format
Formal Methods and VHDL
Synthesis from VHDL
Information modelling of VHDL
VHDL in relation to CAD Frameworks developments
VHDL applications to testability and maintainability
VHDL-EDIF interoperability
The abstract should not be longer than 1000 words, clearly stating
what the significance of the contribution is. The author should
also indicate if he or she intends to present a paper or a poster.
Regular session presentation time is 20 minutes, poster area available
is 1m x 1.5m. The programme committee can assign the contribution
to be presented as a poster even if the author suggested a paper.
The abstracts can be submitted by post, fax or e-mail to the conference
secretariat. Authors should give their post address, telephone, fax
and e-mail if possible.
Full papers or slides of contributions accepted for presentation at
the conference will be required. The paper length is limited to 12
A4 pages including diagrams and references, slides are limited to
24. A single camera-ready copy including full text and all diagrams
will be used to prepare the Proceedings for distribution to all attendees.
List of posters with their abstracts will be included in the Proceedings.
