Why buy DCTV or Firecracker24 when you could buy Colorburst? By the way, all should know that DCTV is NOT broadcast quality; it has half of video bandwidth. Firecracker is OK, it is great quality, but is from two to three times as much as Colorburst.

Do you actually have a DCTV or are you just spouting off assumptions and rumors? I have seen the DCTV and I can tell you right now that the paint program is worth the cost of the box itself! It has a VERY intuitive user interface and more powerful tools than ANY Amiga paint package on the market at this time. It will do watercolor and actually run out of paint as you smear the brush around. This is one paint package that I only WISH the Toaster or Colorburst or Firecracker had! Some people should take notice of this package and see if they can create a similar full-featured paint package for thier boxes. BTW, anyone want to pickup a Ham-E for say $250? I'm ready to sell it and get the DCTV just because it has a far more powerful paint package (from and artists viewpoint). -- Bob The Graphics BBS 908/469-0049 "It's better than a sharp stick in the eye!" ============================================================================ InterNet: bobl@graphics.rent.com | Raven Enterprises UUCP: ...rutgers!bobsbox!graphics!bobl | 25 Raven Avenue BitNet: bobl%graphics.rent.com@pucc | Piscataway, NJ 08854 Home #: 908/560-7353 | 908/271-8878

I would also have to agree that DCTV is well worth the price.
I have been using every feature of it. The digitizing quality is fantastic.
Using just a standard RCA video camera and a desk lamp, in 10 secs I can
have a perfect copy of any image. Viewing the image back under DCTV seems to
have no noticable loss in quality. It still seems like your lookin at the
live image it's so good!
The paint program in unbelievable, I've had a lot of fun superimposing
images onto other pictures in full 16 million colors using the "RubThru"
and cromakey effects (just like the weatherman). According to the readme
lots of new features are also on the way.
What also amazes me is how SMALL the images are in size when saved as DCTV
display format. In 24bit IFF an image may take about 800 K bytes of space
where as in DCTV compressed video format only takes about 120 Kbytes.
Also converting color images from other sources ie SUN raster, GIF to
RGB then to DCTV gives perfect results. (Makes HAM mode look pretty bad).
Being able to display 640 by 480 GIF images without any loss in quality
is real nice.
For the price DCTV is great value. Since I don't have a VGA or multisync
monitor (just plain 1084) DCTV is my choice over firecracker (which I
have had a demo of).
Just my 2 cents..
