Hi, I'm interested in writing a 3-d "vector graphics" game for the Amiga- I myself have an A500 but am thinking of upgrading to an A3000 as soon as I can get the money.... The idea is that the game would play somewhat like Elite, but that there would be a multiplayer option- i.e. that many people with many Amigas could all play simultaneously, and that the images on one persons terminal would represent the positions and velocities of all the other people. This would NOT be a commercial venture, and I am not yet sure whether feasible speeds would be achievable across a small network, but I do intend to write this for the base case: i.e. two A3000's (or at present, an A500 and an A3000). My questions are as follows: 1) What would be the appropriate screen size and resolution for maximum speed/clarity- few colours are necessary (as I envision it) and the graphics may or may not be filled. 2) What type of amim/drawing packages (if any) would be useful for this project- I have Dpaint III, DigiPaint 3, Fantavision and a few other graphic utilities, but I can't see them as being too useful- or? 3) Should I use the Amiga Library routines fully or should I a) try to write my own (!!) b) try to hack around them with direct addressing of nice locations. or c) give up an go home. 4) Should I write this in C or 68000- I'm fairly competent in both, but C is easier to debug... what is the speed advantage like using 68000 ? (I have Lattice V5.04 and Argasm). 5) Are there any PD libraries incorporating "handy" and fast vector grpahics line drawing routines..? Thanks in advance for all your help- please E-Mail me any replies at: h235@ccvax.ucd.ie it->Nuttchen->Steven.
