Sean, I am just beginning work on a similar utility to work with the BCD-5000 video controller. I am also considering an AREXX interface to the PC-VCR from NEC. These are not necessarily linked to the toaster, but obviously that would be an appropriate feature. I have been working on the interface only so far, using REXXArpLib, but will be tackling the serial port soon. What did you use to handle the serial port? I would be interested in banging heads on technique, for sure. -- * Scott Busse email: O O O_ _ ___ ..... * CIS 73040,2114 ||| /|\ /\ O/\_ / O )=| * scott_busse@mindlink.UUCP l | | |\ / \ /\ _\ * scott_busse@mindlink.bc.ca Live Long and Animate... \

I am currently attempting to write a series of AREXX driven utilities to interface and automate interaction between the Video Toaster and the MiniVas single frame controller by Lyon Lamb. I have had success in writing scripts to display pre-rendered images and record them. I am currently attempting to read the MiniVas output to automate accurate framegrabbing. This would enable grabbing a series of frames from a video source for the purpose of animated image maps in Lightwave. I am curious if anyone has attempted similar work with or without success. Also it would be good to know if anyone would be interested in such utilities once I get a good package of them working. ======================================================================= Sean Schur USENET: schur@isi.edu Assistant Director Amiga/Media Lab Compuserve: 70731,1102 Character Animation Department Plink: OSS259 California Institute of the Arts =======================================================================

They (and much more) are available in a downloadable package called 'RexxTutor' here on Outbound and probably on Mindlink. If not, I'm sure your aware that Larry can be cornered on Mindlink (and Compuserve if he's still a staff type there). If you can't find it, then you can grab it from Colin 'Mr. Wings of Fury' Fox at the next SIGGraph meeting here in Vancouver (Just send a request as a reply) --------------------------------------- | patrick_meloy@outbound.wimsey.bc.ca | | 'The Outbound' BBS Vancouver BC | ---------------------------------------
