Is there any way to take a big bitmap picture saved in IFF ILBM format (like the aforementioned 8.5"x11" pic at 300 dots-per-inch) and break it up into 640x400 pics (perhaps as part of an ANIM, for easy storage as one file)? Preferably as a PD or shareware program, but if the solution involves DPaintIII, DigiPaint 3, or PageStream 2.1, I can use it. I haven't really deciphered what you are trying to achieve in the above paragraph but I can tell you that Deluxe Paint III version 3.25 will load and save super-bitmap images. So, (as long as the IFF is in a *normal* Amiga mode. READ not HAM) you can load in a 300dpi image and edit it and save it out as a single file as long as you have the RAM to support the loading. I imagine the more CHIP ram the and the lower the bits per pixel the better. -- Bob The Graphics BBS 908/469-0049 "It's better than a sharp stick in the eye!" ============================================================================ InterNet: bobl@graphics.rent.com | Raven Enterprises UUCP: ...rutgers!bobsbox!graphics!bobl | 25 Raven Avenue BitNet: bobl%graphics.rent.com@pucc | Piscataway, NJ 08854 Home #: 908/560-7353 | 908/271-8878

Express Paint 3.0, instead, used that clever 'virtual page concept', in which the superbitmap is actually in FAST memory, and only the currently edited part is taken to the CHIP memory. So, the limit is the amount of fast memory, not the Chip one. And because there is relatively small need for Chip memory even with large pictures, you can also multitask quite easily. BTW, have anyone tested Express Paint with A3000 and 2.0 operating system, with more than 8 megs of fast memory? If it works, then the limit to the picture size is in Gigabytes :-)! > > -- Bob > The Graphics BBS 908/469-0049 "It's better than a sharp stick in the eye!" > ============================================================================ > InterNet: bobl@graphics.rent.com | Raven Enterprises > UUCP: ...rutgers!bobsbox!graphics!bobl | 25 Raven Avenue > BitNet: bobl%graphics.rent.com@pucc | Piscataway, NJ 08854 > Home #: 908/560-7353 | 908/271-8878 -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reijo Ronkko University of Helsinki, Dept. of General Microbiology, Mannerheimintie 172, 00300 Helsinki, FINLAND Fax +358-0-4735426 Ronkko@cc.helsinki.fi ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
