[comp.sys.amiga.graphics] Laser Discs in Amiga Vision????

seguine@girtab.usc.edu (Christopher Seguine) (04/18/91)

I am currenlt in the process of doing an interactive installation.... I
was wondering if there is any way to controll two different video disc
players at the same time using Amiga Vision given the use of Commodore's
multi serial card.... If not is there any authoring software 4 the amiga
that will allow me to do this???

    Thanx
    Christopher

Also, is there a way to hook up two monitors on the Amiga and display
different information on each one, ie., one monitor for touchscreen
and the other monitor for informations!

THanks

I wondered how to do this too, so I came up with a solution. Get two
machines, networked through nullmodem, controlled with Amigavision through
Arexx. The possibilities are limitless. Just make one computer as the
main machine with the main amigavision program, and the other as the display
one with the touchscreen. I am doing this for a convention where I have one
screen facing me with all of the options and such, and the other machine
has it's screen facing the customer which displays certain pictures when
given the appropriate command from the serial port.

Sorry, don't know.

Normally not. Amiga delivers only one video signal as it has only one
set of video chips. There are special add-on boards of the framebuffer
type that can display separate images, but most of them need own,
specialized software to operate.

But in the special setup mentioned here, with a laser player, there
you could easily connect an own monitor to the player (showing the
chosen informations/pictures/film sequences) and use the Amiga monitor
for control (e. g. by touchscreen).

You can only control one videodisc player at a time with AmigaVision. You set
it to address one of the serial ports in the Video Setup menu.

I am not aware of any Amiga authoring systems that simultaneously support
multiple videodisc players.

The Amiga has one video output. You could use a videodisc and have your video
images output to one monitor and then have a second monitor to display your
Amiga based information and images.

AmigaVision was designed so that you don't need to use two monitors (like with
most of the authoring systems for other platforms). By using a genlock you can
combine live action video with Amiga based text, graphics and animation and
output the entire program on one monitor so the user can keep their attention
focused in one place and not have to keep shifting.
