Hi there About a month ago I downloaded the Red Sector Demomaker, and I have since got it to work... I tell you, it makes VERY nice demos. I am thinking of hacking the program to convert the strings, etc to English.... if there is enough interest. Well??? Speak up now or learn some French!!! ( I have never been taugh French, but I found most of the menu items intuitive) Considering making a doc file too... +^o^+^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-+-o-+ | | Murray Chapman muzzle@cs.uq.oz.au | | | o | | o | | | University of Queensland "I'd rather have a bottle in front | | | o | St Lucia, Queenland of me than a frontal lobotomy" | o | | | AUSTRALIA - Mel Brooks | | | o | | o | +^-^+^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-------------+---+ \__ | o | Hate that! -----> +^-^-^-^-^-^-^-

If anyone can get and can post a REAL English version please do. FYI, RSDM is for PAL machines only, sorry to say. I could not get it working on my NTSC A1000. If there *IS* a version that works on an NTSC machine I'd love to have it. It does work on an A3000, but only with a blank system all except for a CLI (In PAL of course--kinda limits background multitasking). -------------------------------------------------------------- Brian Wright wright%etsuvax2@ricevm1.rice.edu or wright@etsuvax2.bitnet --------------------------------------------------------------

I already have a version translated to English (the French version actually came as a surprise). Though I have to say that I still can't get the sample demo (I think it's called "firstdemo" or something) to work, I've tried giving it as an argument at startup and I can't see to find a way of loading it anyway. I guess I could download the english version, but it seems sort of a waste to have two copies on there. Why not just read the french prompts? It's not like there's a lot of them to translate and memorize. One evening with a french dictionary and you should be in business.. Jordan

OK, I am sorry to say that the Red Sector Demo Maker is a commercial product and that the version that was in ab20 is a pirated product. the RSDM is mar- keted by Data Becker, Merowingerstrasse 30, 4000 Duesseldorf, United Germany. I don't know who uploaded it, but these kind of mistakes may happen with products that seem to be marketed only in Europe (maybe it's PAL-only?). However, you should erase it if you have it. Note: the group Red Sector is still in the pirating business themselves, they have ganged up with a group called "Tristar" and are releasing other people's work. But this is no reason to become a pirate yourself by using the RDSM. For those people who are still thinking about buying a legit copy (for example thru a European mail-order company [the dollar went up the last months so this is the time]): Data Becker also has a "Erweiterungsset", call it the enhancer package, with new fonts, logos, objects, bobs, and sounds (DM 29,-). In the PD sector, I remember seeing an object editor for the RSDM. I don't have the RSDM, so I didn't try to get it. For those who don't believe this, check for example the ad on pp. 204-205 in the German M&T AMIGA Magazin, issue 5/91. You can also have a look at other Data Becker ads in recent German magazines (maybe English ones, too - I don't know). I already mailed Tad Guy about it and he removed the file from ab20. Greetings, Marco Niese (Using: amorsin@cs.vu.nl)

I've been reading the discussion about the Red Sector demomaker and I was wondering what it was? I mean I know it makes demos, but how and what type? Do they look decent? Too bad this demomaker on ab20 wasn't legit. -Joseph R. Castillo ez001989@pollux.ucdavis.edu
