Went looking at monitors today trying to decide on the right one for my
new 3000. Evven though the NEC 3D is ofteh mentioned as the machine to
get, there were 4 others that really stood out. 3 of these were at a
better price than the 3D also. These monitors were as follows:
1. Optiquest 2000 $589
2. Seiko Instruments 1450 $665
3. Sony 1304 $710
4. SyncMaster3 (Samsung) $395
At least two of these (the Optiquest and the SyncMaster3) had a couple of
fixed horizontal scanning rates, usually like 31.5, 35.5, and 48KHz,
instead of a range like the NEC. I'm curious how these fixed rates do
with 2.0's various graphics modes. Anybody have any experience on this?
All 4 of these monitors looked good but were running MS Windows 3.0. A
couple of the machines also had both Vert. and Horz. sizing controls to get
rid of most of the black band.
