************************************************************************* FRAMEBUFFERS???? GENLOCKS???? SINGLE FRAME CONTROLERS??? VTRS????? ************************************************************************* I am interested in saving some of my renderings to video. I only wish to create an animation using one of the current renderers ie. Imagine, and save it to tape. At this time I do not wish any of the nice video effects of the toaster. I also want the equipment to be fairly robust i.e. the framebuffer must lend itself to display a variety of images from different souces ie. sculpt, silver, imagine etc. What do people suggest. Has anyone head of the Colourburst framebuffer from MAST technologies? A 24bit paint program would also be very nice. Next bunch of questions: What equipment do I need to output to video assuming I only want to make a video for myself? i.e. keeping the price and quality to something less than professional. What is a genlock for? Why does one need a single-frame controller? What types of VTR does one need? What types of outputs are needed from the framebuffer in order to goto the VTR? I have heard RBG, NTSC, S-Video, Video ?? How does one get such outputs to video? For instance, can the DCTV be output to video? How? What about the Colourburst and Firecracker? I have kept an eye open in the magazines for any articles pertaining to these questions, however I have not found any? Could anyone in the know either post to the newsgroup or even better, send me an e-mail if they can answer any of the above questions? Thnks you in advance Jason Twamley Physics Dept, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 2J1.
