Could anyone recommend a good text(s) for demystifying general display hardware and also the graphic features of the Amiga? Please note that aside from playing around with an Amiga in a computer store, I really don't have any experience with them, though I'm planning to purchase one now that UNIX is available :-). As such, I do not presently have access to any manuals that come with an Amiga in case that is a suggestion. I've only worked from a software standpoint with graphics on a different architecture and thus have never dug much into hardware. I'd like something that covered such basic definitions as NTSC, PAL, composite, RGB, and multi-sync. Then, I'd like to get an understanding of terms like overscan, de-interlacer, display-enhancer, dynamic hi-res vs. dynamic HAM, genlock, TBC, frame grabber, switcher, real-time paint (as in 24-bit boards), blitters, sprites. Yes, I did see the article in this month's "AmigaWorld" which made an attempt to decode some of these, but I'd like more detail, preferably with DIAGRAMS for explanation rather than a brief sentence. Thanks to all in advance... -- Lance G.
