I would like to listen to and possibly use some of the sound files found on the various networks but am confounded by the different formats (IFF SMUS, NT, ST...). I've managed to get MEDv2.13 working and playing some of the music found on ab20. I have seen a ton of DMCS and Sonix sound files and instruments and would like to listen to some of them also. How do I go about it? Do I need DMCS or Sonix? Is there a generic IFF SMUS player that is freely distributable? If so, how do I play the sound file with the correct instruments? Also, I have Music-X, and have tried to use the MUSICX-FROM-SMUS utility with several DMCS sound files. All I get is a requestor saying that the file is not an IFF file, while all the "determine file type" utilities say that the file is an IFF file. Have any of you Music-X users gotten the utility to work? I thought I'd check here before I spend the money for a long distance call to Microillusions. Thank you in advance for any answers/information. mark <davis@soomee.zso.dec.com>
