OK. I've been meaning to do this for quite some time. Now's the time. Announcing... ------------- The Module List - a Mailing List distribution for music modules I know there's plenty of modules available on the Nasa archives. The purpose of this list will be twofold: 1> allow access to these and other modules to non-FTP connected people. but more importantly: 2> to distribute new (and old) music modules to many people and serve as an information/distribution service for many related things, such as new players and other software. Also, people can send any new creations of theirs to the group for feedback from a somewhat smaller and more directly interested group of people. In addition, I intend to be doing the rather massive job of converting most existing modules (any worth their drive space, anyway) from NoiseTracker to Med format, fixing any inconsistencies not repaired by the new loader in Med 3.0. I will distribute both types of modules unmodified, but I don't really feel justified in uploading my conversions to Nasa as it would be rather a lot of space. I don't hope to replace either UseNet news or Nasa as a distribution service for information or music, but to supplement. This list will sort of serve the purpose of a combined alt.amiga.trackers/comp.sys.amiga.binaries.modules. Essentially I just hope to have a good time with this, get many more new songs and get in contact with many established and aspiring Amiga musicians out there in the world. In order to join the group, do either of the following: 1> if you responded to my posting of last summer offering to distribute NoiseTracker 2.0 (and please don't start THAT debate up again; I've pretty much decided it was a bad move, and besides, that was before I saw the light and began using MED =), I already have placed your name on the list. Write me now or when you see the first message if you don't wish to be a part of this. 2> the obvious: send me mail at this address: module-master@mts.rpi.edu (groovy, eh?) and please include the word 'module' somewhere in the subject line. (module mailing list, or something.) Ask to be added to the module mailing list, and please *include a known valid mailing address in the letter body itself!* I've gotten mail from people before with faulty addresses, and it's mighty frustrating not being able to get in contact with them to let them know that I can't contact them.. Anyway, I'll write back to all with a form letter indicating I have your address on file, and in the next two weeks or so I'll send a test/intro message to the entire group. Please be aware that some pretty large files will be coming down these pipes, and be prepared to handle them, because I really can't be prepared to re-send mail lost by the recipient. Anyway, if you have any interest in joining up lemme know and I'll stick you on! And if you have any suggestions at all regarding how this list should be run, also please let me know... I'm new to this and apt to not get it all really spiffy the first time through. 1/2 (= Hope to hear from you soon, and happy tracking! Enjoy!
