[comp.sys.amiga.audio] Sound Monitor

matthew@cs.adelaide.edu.au (Matthew Donaldson) (05/22/91)

Hi. I recently ripped a sound module from the taipan music demo, and
multi-ripper announced that it was a "Sound Monitor" module. Does anyone
know what such a module is and what plays them? None of my music editors/
players know about the module. It would be nice to be able to play them
without running the demo, as they're nice modules, and the demo is
particularly un-friendly (makes you turn off your computer to exit :-(

Thanks in advance

There is a module player on ab20 called UltraPlayer, which will play
almost every type of music module under the sun, including soundmon modules.
While on this topic, does ANYONE know of a place (FTP or otherwise) that has
tracker-music programs?

Ultraplayer does say it plays soundmon modules, but it doesn't do a very good
job of the ones from the Taipan music demo. I don't know if this is because
it doesn't handle all the commands, or because the demo uses non-standard
modules. Some of the songs sound all out of tune, some seem to have
instruments not being played, and some have notes of the wrong length.

P.S. I now have the 11 modules from disk 1 of the demo, which I plan to
put on ab20 when I find something that will play them properly.

P.P.S. Does anyone know of a way to exit this demo without turning the
	computer off and on?
