[comp.sys.amiga.audio] Amiga to R5

root@cshl.org (Operator NO MAIL) (06/26/91)

I have a Roland R-5 Drum machine and an Amiga 500. The Roland R5 supports a MIDI data
dump which is a good idea since the cassette dump is about 5 minutes(for a full dump)
and frequently unreliable(And it would sure look stupid sitting on stage after playing
6 songs trying to convince the drum machine to load its next batch of material!) Hence,
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this:
1) The Quick-Fix: Is there some PD program or some short utility that anyone knows about
that could handle this type of task.

2) The Involved Approach: Is anyone familiar with how Roland deals with its data? It seems
to me the easiest thing to do is just have a mirror program that reads the data, saves
it, and dumps it back out verbatim(but computer science and musical equipment
manufacturers don't neccessarily see eye to eye on all points!)

Secondly, the more essential problem, what config should I set up for the com1 port?
What speed does it deal with MIDI at and all of that razamataz?

		Thanks,
