[comp.sys.amiga.applications] How to build menus from AREXX

paulb@cbnewsk.att.com (paul.l.bidwell) (01/31/91)

I'm contemplating building an application to track inventory etc. for
my small business. I'm considering using AREXX to do this, but I'd like
to have a menu interface with it. Will the RexxIntuition library on FF
disk #393 do this, or do I need other parts?

Also, someone posted a brief article about writing an accounting package
in AmigaVision. Would AmigaVision be a better tool to do this? (I have
AmigaVision that came with my A3000 - just haven't had time to examine it
carefully).

Amigavision (AV) would perhaps be a slightly strange vehicle for such
an application at first sight, (as it is primarily a multimedia authoring
system) however on further investigation it might suit your needs.

AV has a database editor which is very easy to use and which has
a file format which is compatible with other database packages
such as Superbase.

There is an example of how one would build a simple database
application on the Amigavision tutorial disk. I have used the
database myself and have been quite pleased with it. I have founhd
AREXX rather harder to get into than AV. Moreover you could easily
add crazy sound effects to indicate interesting accounting phenomena
due to the multimedia capabilities :-)
