[comp.sys.amiga.applications] HELP!! Pro Draw -> CorelDraw?

scottg@infonode.ingr.com (Glenn Scott) (02/09/91)

Does anyone know of a way to convert vector output from Professional Draw
2.0 to a vector format that CorelDraw on the PC can read? We are doing
illustrations on our Amiga 2000 to be loaded into a PC. The guy we're
doing the work for needs the drawings to be in vector format so that he
can manipulate them before printing. Here's what we've tried so far -

1) Saving it out in Pro Draw's EPSF format. CorelDraw can only read
the EPS format produced by Adobe Illustrator or CorelTrace.

2) Saving it out in HPGL. This worked okay, except that HPGL doesn't
support Bezier curves. It broke all of the curves into small vectors
and when he scaled it up in CorelDraw, the "jaggies" were too obvious.

3) Saving it out as a bitmap. CorelTrace could trace the bitmap, except
that the resulting output is no better than the HPGL format.

I talked to the people at Pro Draw Technical Support and was told basically,
"you can't get there from here". They told me that "Pro Draw uses the
'standard' EPS format and CorelDraw only reads Adobe Illustrator's version
of EPS". We also called all of the companies listed in the CorelDraw manual
that do third-party translators. All to no avail.

If anyone out there in netland can help, please post a response or e-mail
me at the address below.
