I'm presently looking for a good vi clone, with all the features of vi... or a pretty extensive subset. I've tried z, and stevie(3.7a), which don't cut it. Most advanced options aren't implemented, or don't work the way they should. I got a binary of elvis, which is much better, from ab20.larc.nasa.gov. Unfortunately, I don't know where it came from. Every info I've got is: ELVIS 1.3, by Steve Kirkendall (freely redistributable). There are still some problems, most notably no filter, and crashes on >256k files. So I would like any information on how to contact Steve Kirkendall/where to get elvis recent versions/source code. Please email, don't post. Email also if you're interested too. I will email back (or post if enough are interested) whatever I get. -- Marc Espie (espie@flamingo.stanford.edu)
