I have just got hold of PasTex from ab20 and am
impressed to say the least at how complete the implementa-
tion is. The previewer alone is worth its weight in gold
(How much does a program weigh?). There is only one slight
problem, the lack of suitable pk fonts in the distribution
that I got hold of. If any kind soul out there can supply
me with some FTP addresses where I can get hold of the fol-
lowing sets of pk fonts I would greatly appreciate it. I
would be even more astonishingly grateful ( with the possi-
bility of inclusion in my will !!) if the files could be
mailed to me, or perhaps distributed via
comp.binaries.amiga, as I don't have direct FTP access to
anywhere and using the Princeton BITFTP server from here
often gives pretty flaky results. I know this has been
asked a number of times before, so apologies for the repeti-
tion, but I considered my lack of easy to obtain FTP access
was justification for the direct request.
As a slight aside the recent CShell 5.10 posted on
comp.binaries and comp.sources is excellent ( I've been
using 4.00A for a while now and the improvements are exten-
sive ). I have discovered a few bugs, one minor and one
quite major. When using the format flag on dir ( i.e dir -z
...) leaving out the %n flag in the format string hangs the
machine ( spotted after a typing mistake ). The more serious
bug is that redirecting the output of dir to the printer via
PRT: ( i.e dir [flags] [file] >PRT: ) will hang the console
for an indeterminate time ( seems to be longer than a stan-
dard IO timeout ). Sometimes the output is finally printed
and sometimes only garbage comes out. I haven't had a
chance to check through the source yet so I can't say
exactly what the problem is or suggest a fix.
I was going to include a full list of all the pk files
I need for PasTeX but that would take up far to much space
so... what I need are the complete set of all standard TeX
fonts in 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 17 point at
resolutions appropriate for the previewer ( 91 dpi standard
and scaled versions for different magsteps, 100 dpi too if
possible), and also for a NEC P6 compatible printer at 360
dpi ( this is for final output, I can't remember the resolu-
tion for draft output, though its probably 180 dpi) and any
appropriate scalings. Any PasTeX users out there who can get
me these will be on my Christmass card list for the next 300
years!
