Hello Amigans! :)
Nother Problem... ::sigh::
I have dwnlded MrBackup V5.02a.. It won't run.. It keeps GURUing with
'SoftWare Failure' and Guru Med. # 00000003.002350E8..
Here is what I've done to rule-out added Utilities causing the GURU..
Startup-Seq: Removed NoClick, ScreenX, VirusX, Dmouse and DISmounted
MessyDosFileSys..
The Steps I've Taken to run the Program..
1. CLI 'Mrbackup-sw' OR Click on PREFERNCE Icon.. Will not work clicking
on the Program Icon.. Does not find 'mrbackup.init'.
2. Place a Blank flop in DF0: and DF1:
3. Click on DF0: and DF1: Gadgets... (checkmark appears)
4. Select the UTILITIES menu option..
5. Toggle ON the 'FROM' Disk (HDisk)
6. Requestor Window shows ROOT of DH0:.. I double Click 'c' directory
7. Select ALL FILES gadget
8. Hit the COMPRESSION gadget..
What happens:
1. Immediate GURU with above message..
2. The INFO Box shows 'HDisk:c/AddBuffers'..

=========================== My System =============================
2000 with 69010 processor..
1meg Agnus
Microbotics Ram Board with 2megs Fast
Microbotics HardFrame controller with 296N SCSI 80 meg HD.
2 - 3.5 floppy Drives.
Thats all I can think of to assist in this problem.. Sure hope someone
can help.. I would really like to backup my HDrive using Compression.. I
have EasyBackup, but it doesn't support compression, nor does it seem to
support more than one floopy drive (DF0:)...
Peace... -<-*

I read through all the things you did to attempt to correct the prob., and the
only solution that I came up with was to re-download it. I have the same
version and have had no problems with it at all (no GURU's, loads from WB and
CLI, etc.). I've got a A2000HD with 1M Agnus and one 3.5 drive (kind of a
bare-bones setup since I didn't have the $$ to go to town on it - it'll still
blow the doors of an IBM anyday). If at all possible, try and download the
version that is on the Fish disks (#465 to be exact) - you can get this at
ux1.cso.uiuc.edu or isca01.isca.uiowa.edu (my personal Fish favorites). By the
way, I've also run it with VirusX installed and, just to check for your sake,
I ran it with MessyDOS installed and nothing went wrong. I know this isn't
much help, but it may be what you've gotta do to fix the problem.

Lynlee: (You had problems with MrBackup . . .) You included the MrBackup.init file, but you didn't say (I don't think) where it was stored. I think it has to be in your s: directory, or else maybe in the same drawer as the MrBackup file. I've used MrBackup quite a bit. You might want to try it without compression, although I've used it with compression and it's worked OK. Good luck! -Roger rhand@well.sf.ca.us
