I remember a while ago there was some talk about a program to do X windows
style C & P between applications on the amiga.
Does such a beast exist, and if so, what is it's status - PD, commercial,
PDBFOAB ( PD But Full Of Annoying Bugs ).....

Thanks for any help...

Yes, there is, in fact I'm using it right now. It's called PowerSnap, and is
available by ftp from ab20.larc.nasa.gov. I don't recall the directory it's
in, but a quick grep thru FILES.Z should help you. It is as recent as 1991, so
that cuts out most of the file for your searching.

If you're speaking of Nico Francois' PowerSnap - I have it, it came on a
JumpDisk a few months ago. However, it can only clip text. If you want
to clip text and graphics (and perhaps save the graphics as an IFF
brush), look around for Mikael Karlsson's Snap v1.4 or later. Really
nice for picking off things like icons and gadgets off the screen.

I USED to use Snap v1.4 until I found a program called oSnap on the Deepthought
mail-server. I handles multiple clips ( You can snap 5 texts on one screen, go
to another and paste them back!! ) It uses a configuration file and a config-
menu. AND it does graphic-snapping. NEAT!!

For those of you who don't know how to use the deepthought mailserver, I
include a message that was posted to net a while ago.

If you've been having trouble connecting to the file requester
at deep thought, the reason is its been down. We have been
trying to upgrade the disk capacity. I bought a pair of 80
meg drives, and spent about two weeks trying to get them to
work. I finally gave up, brought the system back up and got
two SCSII 80 meg drives, with the A3000 running as a server
for them.

We're now up and running, and will be until July 1 at which
time we may be losing our UUCP connection. If that occurs
we will no longer be on the internet, however the connection
through wolves will still probably work.

Please give the system a call sometime, in addition to the
file request mailer, we also have a BBS at the number. I
think you'll be plesently surprised.

Here are the instructions on using the file request mailer:

------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to DeepPost the file request mail daemon at Deep Thought.
We only support a few commands at this point:

Send a message to FileRequest@deepthot.cary.nc.us. or
                  mcnc!deepthot!filerequest or
                  wolves!deepthot!filerequest

If the body of your message contains any of the following keywords,
mail will be sent back to you.

HELP - Returns this message
LIST - Lists the files available
FILE: filename - requests a file.
NOTE: filename only, do not include the directory.
Each file requires its own line in the message.

If you have any problems, please feel free to contact me.

P.S. Try the internet address first, that should be the
most direct connection.
