So since some have had questions about the new version of Distant Suns, I thought I should post the announcement here. So geeks and geekettes, without further adeiu... Trumpet fanfare please! ***************************************** Virtual Reality Laboratories are proud to present the release of Distant Suns 4.0, for shipping on June 14. The new release adds dozens of new features, many requested by users of previous versions. In addition, Distant Suns 4.0 is a complete rewrite from the ground up in order in make future upgrades all the easier. Among the new features are : * AREXX support (long pause for wild cheering) -Could be used for telescope control or the creation of museum touchscreen displays (using CanDo or AmigaVision). * the ability to create Anim files. * Save and restore multiple user configurations. * Multiple resolution support (interlaced, overscan) * Double buffered screens for cleaner refreshes. * Toned down colors for that dignified look * The ability to move your eyepoint off the earth and look back at the solar-system * Comets and asteroids * The ability to add your own solar-system objects, useful when new comets are discovered * User definable search list * MORE STARS! Expansion disks for various portions of the sky will be available going down to 10th magnitude. So you can have up to 255,000 stars, if you dare... * Ephemeris * Scalable bitmaps for the sun and moon. * A major facelift, applying the new AmigaDOS 2.0 look * Images are now standard IFF brushes * Support for tooltypes in the icon. * Lock on a planet * FPU (math coprocessor) version * AmigaDos 2.0 specific version available which makes use of the new interface look and standard file-requester. * Displays full-screen images in a separate screen (user definable) * Over 2000 deep-sky objects. * not copy-protected * compatible with 2.0 * automatically adjusts for PAL systems. Distant Suns 4.0 comes on 3 disks, and requires at least 1 megabyte and two floppy drives. Suggested retail price is $99. Registered owners of previous versions will receive an upgrade notice from Virtual Reality. Those who do not receive a notice or neglected to send in their registration can call Virtual Reality Labs at (805) 545-8515 or mail them at 2341 Ganador Ct., San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. Owners of Distant Suns 3.0 may upgrade for $25.00, by sending in their original disk. Owners of any previous version, Galileo 1.0 or 2.0 may upgrade for $45.00. None of the original expansion disks will work with the new version. Expansion disks may be upgraded for free by simply returning the originals. And we thank you for your support.
