I'm interested in finding out about such packages for a local animation outfit that wants to use their Amiga for some non-animation stuff. Does anyone have any recommendations (or references) that might be useful? Thanks very much, richard Phone: (03) 344 7270 /*\__/\ "Do you fancy a pub crawl?" < \ "What, the whole of London?" \ _ _/ \| --

>Does anyone have any recommendations (or references) that might be useful? >Thanks very much, >richard ---------- As far as a spreadsheet is concerned, I use The Advantage by Gold Disk. It is a reasonably powerful program which seems to have few bugs (at least version 1.1) is reasonably fast, easy to use and provides the capability to eaisly creating 2D and 3D graphs. It aso comes with several example templates which I found useful. In addition I have a disk full of templates for business and law applications which I found in the public domain. Oh yes I almost forgot, it does support Arexx. I should mention that I looked at several other packages before purchasing The Advantage. I looked at MaxiPlan (can't remember which version) which seemed like a nice package except for two problems. First it was very slow. For some reason it would redraw the entire screen everytime it recalculated or menu item were selected. Second, I managed to visit the guru a few times while playing with it. I don't know if these problems apply to the latest version so it may be worth a look. I also considered SuperPlan but it was not as easy to use as the Advantage (especially for making graphs). You still may want to consider this package if you intend to do project planning as it has some builtin features for creating Gantt Charts. The last one I looked at was ANALYZE! It was more of a Lotus 123 workalike (yuk!) but did not seem to be as powerful, in terms of features, as The Advantage. Also the company that made it said they were not supporting it anymore. I should note that all of this info is my personal opion based on research I did about a year ago. I would suggest that you take a look at each of the products I mentioned and decide which one best meets your needs. ----------------------------- ------------------------------------ | Kevin J.
