A few comments on multiuser performance: First, Having seen several comments about poor disk performance on the Amiga when accessing more than one file, maybe you haven't thought this through. DiskPerf is a good program for what it does, but don't make the mistake of running it on an otherwise dead machine to find out if you have enough buffers allocated (or run it standalone then double the number of buffers required to get good performance). If you carefully tune the number of buffers to the mininum needed for a single task, then when there are two readers, etc. all the directory and index buffers will get flushed. On my most frequently used disk/partition I have Buffers=32. Second I hope Dave doesn't make the same mistake with the 68040 as IBM did in the RS/6000. Chips with a lot of state have trouble handling interrupts. However, the hardware people seem to think that this is a software problem. :-) I don't know how much longer it will take the 68040 to handle a trap than a 68030, but I hope that any 68040 board design for the 3000 uses the native 68030 to handle most of the interrupts. -- Robert I.
