[comp.sys.amiga.advocacy] Now I've seen everything

here's a no shit story for you...

I've got one of the very first 2000's sold, and it has seen heavy
use for the last three years or so. (lot's of late nights...:-)
At any rate, my mouse was finally starting to go on me, (micro switches)
and I thought; "Well, I've got all these mice here at work, maybe I can
check one out from work until I can afford to fix/replace mine..." -
So I took a LogiTech Mouse home and plugged it in.... (ok, if you're a
hardware guy, you're probably already laughing...:-) To make a long story
longer - I plugged a digital mouse in.... POOOF! went the motherboard
*COUGH* *CHOKE* *SCREEAAMM* went the operator.... *SWITCH* went the power.
OH NO, I let the blue smoke out! It'll never work again! - grab the screws,
open the box - sure as hell, I'd burned the a trace on the M-board - toasted,
fried, crisped. The trace was hanging over the motherboard like a
roast pig. Well, I took it into my local service shop and said "help...?"
Fortunately, they said they could fix it -

A day later - they called back -
"Wanna save some money?" he asked
   "DUH!" ( like, who wouldn't?)
   "ok - the board works."
   "What?"
"The board works - I hooked it up to test signal strength and continuity,
and there wasn't any loss of signal - I ran it, checked it and tested it,
    there's nothing wrong with it..."
   "You're kidding, right?"
"Nope - I figured I'd just tack the trace back to the board and seal it up,
won't charge you anything, since I didn't have to fix anything..."
   "Far out..." (There IS a GOD! ) :-) :-) :-)
