Well I thought the NeXT vs. Amiga war needed some more fuel, afterall that seems to be what this newsgroup is all about... anyway.. Yesterday, February 12, 1991, Paul Van Reed from Commodore Business Machines was on campus demonstrating the new Amiga 3000UX machine. In a word, impressive. It was learned from this fellow that NeXT had dropped its agreement with the folks who do Mathematica for the NeXT, and that Mathematica will no longer be distributed with the system, though it will still be available. Commodore, according to Mr. Reed, approached the folks who do Mathematica about doing a port and were basically told they would but for a very inflated dolloar amount (he did not specify how much). According to Mr. Reed the folks who develop Mathematica after losing the NeXT contract and the HP contract called Commodore up to discuss a change in "position". Anyway, I thought I would provide more fodder for the NeXT vs. Amiga newsgroup. I have no idea whether this information is accurate or not. However, accuracy does not seem to matter in this newsgroup anyway ... so ... flame away! -mark= +--------+ ================================================== | \/ | Mark D.
