Look what Mike says over in comp.sys.NeXT:

I think the easiest way to obtain a cheaper NeXT is to allow for
smaller monitors, especially color. Many people want color over all
else, and $2000 for a color monitor is prohibative for many people.
Perhaps NeXT could ride in on the new wave of IBM XGA monitors.

Color? Do my eyes betray me?

I like that: 'ride in on a new wave' ...so positive ...so self assured.
Sounds like chit-chat that was bounced around in the Iraqi Army about
two months ago.

You're a funny guy Mike.

The NeXT has color NOW. What's your point! I was talking about how
to make the NeXT cheaper. The current color machine has a monitor
that costs $2000(educational). Just how out of it are you?

Come on.... ! Because over here on comp.sys.amiga.xxx we always hear that
color is not worth much. But over on comp.sys.next, your're dreaming and
scheming up ways to make color half way affordable on a NeXT.

I think my invisible playmate could have figured that one out!

The reason is because many people insist on having color. I know
people that have bought 386SX machines instead of considering the NeXT
because they couldn't afford a color machine(Hope their happy with
color). Granted, most people would like to have color, just to have
color, but right now NeXT doesn't offer a cheap color machine, and
since most people don't need color for their work, they can't justify
the cost.

BTW: It's nice to see that you read comp.sys.next.

sssssssst. If you can justify the cost of a NeXT, I'd say you could justify
           about anything! ...even Display Postscript.

I swear that I was directed to that article by the hand of God. I read
two articles over there, out of 476, and actually got yours because I
hit the space bar by accident. You explain it to me.

Hell, if I bought a machine for colour, I wouldn't have bought
an Amiga!! I run my 2000 in black/white productivity because I
can't afford a 2320 yet (and the first thing a Mac user here said
when seeing the 3000 is.... 'Hey you can still see the flicker!',
refering to the top line "feature"), and 4 colour productivity
is soooo slow. And if the new chips aren't going to be here til
spring next year (as mentioned in comp.sys.amiga.reviews) then
Amiga colour will still be pretty poor for quite a while. (yes
Marc Barrett is dead right, Amiga graphics are pathetic, we have
the same chip set clockspeed and bandwidth as 1985!)

BTW, when is you next spring over there? Any chance of having
an early spring :-)

Also, why can't C= upgrade the 2000 to a higher speed 68000, I
mean they only cost $10 and you can get RAM that can keep up with
a higher rate now. 7.14 MHz is pretty bad, even Atari now have
16 MHz ST's.
