You're thinking of the Atari 5200 (basically a keyboard-less 400). The
2600 was an earlier generation. The problem with the 5200 is that it
was gratuitously incompatible with the 400/800 series. If you could have
put 400 cartridges in 5200s, and 5200 cartridges in 400s, they'd probably
still be around.
Actually a nice comparison, with the Atari 400/800 and the Amiga 1000
both being the brainchildren of the same man.
