I hate to say it, but who would really PURCHASE an Amiga Portable?

Beats me Tom, but some idiots in Japan are selling PORTABLE X WINDOWS
terminals that pull 12 mips. I don't think that there are that many
Japaneese running around saying "oh, it's too expensive" or "I want a good
word processor, not that high powered graphic thingy"

Please, lets not get idiotic. I can think of about 10 damn good uses of a
portable Amiga, and those would work FINE on an LCD. I do agree that it
might be a little high-powered for someone in the field to carry one, but if
you had to carry it, would you complain?

First, STUDENTS can only afford one computer. If it can go to class, all
the better.

Second, DTP people who use PageStream because Mac's with any power cost 4
times plus $$$ could carry this and plug it into ANY HP LJ. (DO THAT WITH
ANY MAC, it's not cheap!)

Third, on the road, not all computers are used by Suits. Some people manage
their sales leads and such with one. Since most people do this as their
primary source of work, carrying it with them is a plus.

Fourth, some of us like the Amiga more than the IBM at work, and would like
to carry it in, to stuff it down their co-workers throats when they claim
that their 386 is a better deal. (I showed F-18 to someone, and their mouth
dropped open, then I remembered to turn on the speakers, so the sonic booms
are audible!)

Next, anyone who would do work using the Amiga as a CAD/CAM system would
consider using a portable so that the blueprints can go on site. (The Amiga
has some of the best cad software out now, it's not Autocad, and it don't
cost some $10000)

Sixth, there are times that people have to take projects home, and the Amiga
would be fine for that, if it was portable.

This can continue, but why bother. The point is that it doesn't matter if
there is a niche for a portable Amiga, since the niche that such a tool
could fill may not even be envisioned by us yet.
