I am going to contribute my $0.02 worth in this discussio.' I have been using Amiga's since they were released here in Oz in 1986, with the 1000. I had one of those old things, and let me tell you, people were AMAZED with what it could do back then. Today, it still amazes. Somebody please show me a TRUE multi-tasking system for AUD$799? (A500 starter kit price over here) I was recently chatting with a knowledgable programmer, who is also an avid Amiga supporter like myself, and we both share the same opinion that it is of vastly superior construction to any similar machine, both hardware and software wise. I refer to the modular and logical construction of the OS (which I quite like, personally) and the superb layout and thought put behind the chips. I think the issue of sticking 24-bit graphics and 16-bit sound down the ordinary-users neck is a bit much. I, personally, could do with 24-bit graphics. BUT, I'd have to i) pay for it with the computer, ii) buy the software that takes advantage of it, and iii) buy a monitor to display it! That is $$$$$ worth. I simply can't afford it. What I have is plenty enough for the time being. If I want REAL performance, I'll buy a SPARC. What I think WOULD be in C='s advantage is to whack a SCSI interface into a standard Amiga, and leave RAM expansion open. Whilst I do not see this happening, it would have ironed out a lot of the incompatibility problems floating around. Hmmmmmm..... So, let's leave the fluffy dice off the rear-vision mirror of an otherwise perfectly useful computer and remain on the real topic : computing for computing's sake. For all those who dream about 24-bit colour, 16-bit sound, 4meg 3.5" drives, UNIX and a 3e100GHz processor, well, they can lick my, er, um, kno(b)se. :-) heh heh To the dudes at C= in the US ; keep working hard guys. MOST of us here in Oz reckon you're doing OK. But C= Australia sux (they're hopeless. Customer support. Non-existant). I just WISH you hadn't made us so jealous with the Power Upgrade offer. C= Oz didn't even know it existed in the US!! What a joke. They make a mockery of modern business! Hrumph.
