I just got done having my friend show me some stuff on his fancy (and expensive!) Sparc(sp?) workstation at school. He was all impressed at how fast it was going for things, like moving windows around, and to the top and bottom, etc. I kept thinking the whole time that my Amiga does that ALOT faster than the workstation was going. Like for example, it took his computer a few seconds to get another X window onto the screen, and I can do that on my Amiga in less than 1/2 second. Maybe the workstation is faster for doing computations but the Amiga *blows it away* for interactive stuff. Oh also he said he was running slower cuz he had "only" something like 16 meg of memory. Heck, my Amiga is faster for the window stuff and I have only 2 megabytes! I guess becuase the Amiga doesn't use virtual memory so real memory doesn't affect speed so much except chip/fast ram. Anyway, get the Sparcstation for numbercrunching - get the Amiga to interact with. No doubt in my mind. The AMiga has cooler software too. I defy you to find a program like Distant Suns or Imagine for the sparc for less than 10X the price. ANd you can't play Shadow of the Beast on a Sparc!
