To those of you who left me E-mail on the SideCar.... Sidecar is a box made by Commodore to add IBM compatibility to the Amiga 1000. It runs at 4.77 Mhz for the IBM and I can multitask IBM with the Amiga. There are three IBM slots on there. It comes with IBM CGA and mono graphics. But you can add IBM VGA cards and even 386 card, PC elevator, etc.. to it. It came with 256 K or memory, but I have added up to 512Ks. You can add more using cards for the slots. I have also added a 20 MEG drive to the thing. The data between IBM and Amiga can be transferred easily using softwares that came with the sidecar. The harddrive can be partitioned to IBM and Amiga sides. Currently I have 15 Meg for Amiga and 5 Megs for IBM. It is an IBM segate drive with IBM controller. I don't know how fast it goes, but it's pretty quick. Also it's not autoboot. You have to mount it in the startup-sequence, but you don't need to go into IBM mode. You can add any IBM drive to it, and you can partitioned it to use it from the Amiga side. The 512K memory is for the IBM side. Amiga can't use it. But the manual said that it has something to add memory to Amiga side. I don't know anything about it though. Before I didn't know that there was that much interest in the sidecar. I was asking $250 for it. Someone already offered $300. Best offer more than $300 gets it. -------------- E-mail to nguyent@balboa.eng.uci.edu
