The subject line pretty much says it all. Does anyone know of any (student) financing programs that could be used for purchasing and Amiga? I only know of one dealer in the Atlanta area who does financing, (well, through another company, that is) and they only offer one 36-month plan. I would hope to find something closer to a 5-year plan, one with the freedom to pay off the balance at any time, and of course preferably with low interest rates. Thanks in advance. If you want a long term loan, keeping in mind that interest kills, and you have no other route, the good ol' SLS/PLUS loan program is the way to go. They are like the GLS/Stafford loan but I don't believe that they are need based. If you are getting financial aid, then you'll probably need to get a need adjustment, but don't fib, 'cause a computer counts in the eyes of the Financial Aid Dept. :) If you're a dependent use the PLUS get mom/dad to cosign, if independent use SLS. The best way to look at this is a maxed out Visa/MC with a really good rate, i.e. you start paying immediately!!! CAUTION!!! this loan, due to federal regulations is disbursed in two lump sums. There is NO way around it. You must apply for a year term. Lastly, the way to get it to feel like a lump sum is to put your application in 5 weeks before the end of the FALL semester. It gets approved and you get the first half in mid December, the second half comes in mid January. Payments start as soon as you receive the _1st_ disbursement. The FedReg I refer to was set up to prevent students from borrowing money and disappearing after one semester with the whole amount, thus tying up funds for more deserving students, e.g. us. :) There is currently no provision to take care of us who have really good reasons to get a single disbursement. If you have any questions, please post them here since my email addr is quite volitile. Dan
