An even better to eliminate the groups you don't want to see is to use the 'u' (unsubscribe) feature of readnews. More than once I have had to explain to netnews readers on my machine that saying 'options -n only the ones I want' prevents you from seeing new newsgroups that they were interested in. I personally don't have any options line (default subscriptions here are 'all') and have unsubscribed to the ones I don't care to read. Marsh Gosnell BTL Piscataway (201) 981-2758 npois!pyuxbb!mkg

A couple of notes here: 1. What if your node doen't HAVE the "u" or unsubscribe option, i.e. mine. If there is no such option, it can't be a solution. 2. One method that does work, though, is the "!newsgroup" form. One word of warning to the use of this method is that all must also be specified, i.e. the first line of .newsrc should be: options -n all !newsgroup ... That's All, Folks!

Unless I have a different news facility, all of the related commands can be obtained by typing a ? in response to the prompt. This includes the u for unsubscribe command which will remove a newsgroup from your list. It's real simple.
