Since there has been a recent discussion about Apple II emulators, I figured I'd let everyone know that I ported the Unix version of the Apple II emulator (written in C) fairly successfully to the Amiga a few months ago. It is by no means complete, and so I never posted it. After doing that, I decided that it was just way to SLOW to bother with, and I began writing an emulator from scratch in 68000. I currently have the core 6502 emulator written, and some of the low level hardware emulation, like the keyboard and text screen. The text screen output is FAST! And the 6502 is reasonably fast, although not close to a real 1 Mhz 6502 when run on a stander 7.xx Mhz 68000. The code is also quite modular, so other hardware should be easy to add, and I plan to add graphics and sound at some time in the future. Oh, and it multitasks too. (Although it hogs most of the CPU, so I will probably add an option to take over the system, to get the last bit of power.) Unfortunately, I've been very busy with school and other projects lately, so I haven't been able to devote much time to it... If anyone is interested in hacking on it a bit, please get in touch with me. -Dan

[] Will the Unix apple II emulator port you are working on be A3000 compatible? I hope so! -Roger UUCP: {hplabs!hp-sdd ucsd nosc}!crash!pnet01!uzun ARPA: crash!pnet01!uzun@nosc.mil INET: uzun@pnet01.cts.com
