[comp.sys.amiga.emulations] AMaxII/A2091 w/ Multiple drives

galocy@en.ecn.purdue.edu (Keith B Galocy) (03/01/91)

After messing with AMax and my hard drive, I finally got my partition to
work. If I disconnect my external drive (ribbon cable connected to external
port on back of A2091), AMax boots perfectly from my internal partition.
I was originally trying to get AMax to work on my external drive. I gave up,
repartitioned by internal to allow room, and it worked! I was wondering
if anyone else ran across this problem. If not, could anyone tell me what
I may be doing wrong. It is becoming quite a pain having to unplug the drive.
Feels like the old days when I had my A1000 and I had to unplug the floppy.
Anyway, the situation is uncool at best and I was hoping someone would have
a suggestion for me. The best idea I have so far is to scrap the A2091 and
get a GVP card. Any insight would be greatly appreciated... Thanks,

					Keith Galocy

P.S. I hope this message was clear--I am having problems with multiple
HARD disks connected to the A2091 (like everyone else.)

>(question regarding problems with an A2091, A-Max II, and an external HD

I wouldn't scrap the A2091... I use A-Max II with my A2091 and two
hard drives with no problem. My original 40 meg is all Amiga and
a 105 Meg Quantum I added is partitioned with 50 megs for Mac and
the rest for Amiga. No problems at all. I would recheck your
setup before scrapping the A2091. Are you sure you have terminated
the SCSI connection on your external drive? The Macintosh, unlike
the Amiga, is VERY finicky with SCSI termination.

If all else fails, call ReadySoft. They are very helpful and just
might have some other ideas for you to try. Good luck!
