The Addison-Wesley booth at the AAAI Conference in Pittsburgh last week did not have Knuth vol. 4, and I'm sure they would have if it had been released. They did have Terry Winograd's Language as a Cognitive Process (Vol. 1 of 2) which has also been promised for a few years. Vol. 1 discusses syntax. p. rowley, u.waterloo
