[comp.sys.amiga.emulations] AMAX + IDE hard drive

dtiberio@eeserv1.ic.sunysb.edu (David Tiberio) (04/24/91)

When I boot up AMAX II, my system fre4ezes (it just shows the question
mark and the disk, nothing blinking). I have an IDE drive, and have tried
to put the data file for it in numerous directories, but it hasn't worked
yet. Last of all, I do not have a df0:. I only have df1:.

Thanks!

Sorry to tell you this, but the A-Max won't boot up unless DF0: is
present regardless of whether or not you have a bootable a-max partition
on the hard drive.

Try making df1: df0:. An amigaDOS assign won't help ie. assign df1:
df0:, when a-max resets it forgets the amiga stuff. You'll have to play
around with the hardware, select lines etc..

Pity it isn't like the amiga where the O/S has a timeout of about 10
seconds if it can't find DF0:, then looks at other devices.

matt.

Oh, and my AMAX I doesn't work either (same symptoms). It must be because
my df0: is missing. Is there a way to 'unmount' it? I will be able to format
the IDE drive with a friends computer soon, and would also like to know how
to get it to boot.
