MacDirect also has a $99 Fugitsu drive. I really like mine, it comes with a small plastic piece to mout the drive upright. It also has a manual eject button (in case A-Max crashes with a disk in the drive). -Rich -- // Rich | "have you ever noticed that opinion without knowledge is \X/ Andrews | always a shabby sort of thing?" - Socrates

A friend of mine has it and it is quiet and works just fine with AMAX II. We used it and it's perfect. These drives have a 1 year warranty and are new drives. -- Bob The Graphics BBS 908/469-0049 "It's better than a sharp stick in the eye!" ============================================================================ InterNet: bobl@graphics.rent.com | Raven Enterprises UUCP: ...rutgers!bobsbox!graphics!bobl | 25 Raven Avenue BitNet: bobl%graphics.rent.com@pucc | Piscataway, NJ 08854 Home #: 908/560-7353 | 908/271-8878

Speaking of Mac drives... isn't there supposed to be a drive that doubles as an external Amiga _and_ Mac drive??? Where? How much? -Beej -- I must remember to be cheerful and obedient. If I think what you are thinking: the AmigaTosh and the AmigaTosh Plus drives, the answer is NO. The deceiving names of them made me wonder when it came out. AmigaTosh drive is just a plain 800K Mac compatible external drive. The AmigaTosh Plus was discontinued since it had equivalent circuit and rom socket as the AMax cartridge, and ReadySoft warned them to take them off the market. I was trying very hard to find one some time ago, since I don't like the AMax cartridge dangling out at the back, so I can't push in my Amiga as much. Again, there are no known drive available for both Amiga and Mac format. >-Beej >-- >I must remember to be cheerful and obedient. >I must remember to be cheerful and obedient. >I must remember to be cheerful and obedient. >mail: anderson@mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu David

Speaking of Mac external flopy drive, did any one try the macdrive hack found on ab20? Does it work as a mac drive (in terms of transfering data from mac disks ), will it work like say df3... or will an external High density mac drive work as High density on the amax part? If anybody has some answears Please mail me :) Avi Rozen (ravi@techunix.technion.ac.il)
