[comp.sys.amiga.emulations] Mark Tomlinson & IBeM again

spice@drycas.club.cc.cmu.edu (05/31/91)

Mark , I received your e-mail message but I havent replied to you via e-mail
because it seems that while I can receive e-mail from you , I cant send
e-mail to you from either of my accounts. In answer to your question as
to where you can get a copy of DataPlus , I got my copy off of an online
service and have no idea if it is available for FTP on some server or not.
I'll try to find it on a machine with FTP capability or I'll try to get
the sysadmins of this VMS box to make it available for anonymous FTP and
I'll upload it to this machine. It would be nice if you could set up an
anonymous FTP account on your end so that people could send you PD and
shareware programs that have problems with IBeM. It would also be nice if
owners of IBeM were able to FTP newer versions of IBeM so we wouldnt have
to send all the way to New Zealand in order to get a new version.

I've discovered some new problems with the new demo version of IBeM.
the first problem relates to disk I/O again. When I perform a format
of a floppy disk using the "format a:/s" command for the 1st time the
format goes fine (except in the case I mentioned earlier) and the
system info is placed on the disk. After the format is complete , MSDOS
prompts me asking if I want to format another floppy. If I answer yes I
get the following message offset as shown below:

Warning , All data on non-removable disk drive R:
will be lost.

Then I am asked again if I want to proceed with the format of the disk.
Even if I say no , MSDOS proceeds to format the floppy again. I dont have
a a hard disk partition named R: set up nor do I have any other hard disk
partition set up. There is also a smiling face character put on the screen
just after the period in the sentence when MSDOS asks me if I'm ready to
format another disk. I'm running MSDOS 3.3 from a Leading Edge Model D
PC clone.

I've also found another shareware program that would not run under the
new version of IBeM. The name of the program is Cobol600 and it is
a shareware Cobol compiler. Whenever I go into IBeM and try to run it
the program starts to load and run but then I get dropped out of IBeM
and get an error message which says:

  Invalid instruction encountered at 0c7a:0173

I got this program from a pay online service also. I'll try to find it
on a anon FTP site or have it put up for anon FTP on this machine.
I really like IBeM and I hope you can correct these bugs in it soon.

                    Thanks
                       Scott Corley
