[comp.sys.amiga.emulations] NAPLPS Terminal Emulation on Amiga

matt@vrtwo.UUCP (Matt Buford) (06/02/91)

(Ahem ahem!) OK! Well, this is my first post on UseNet ever... I have no idea
what I'm doing... And I'm the sysop! Hehehe.

I hope this is in the right area... If not, you get 1 free hit...

Here in Hawaii, the state has set up an "information service" with 1000 lines
run on a mainframe... Well, my problem is, some of the service works with
VT-100, but most of it requires NAPLPS. Anyone have or know of a term program
for the Amiga that will emulate NAPLPS? I have never heard of it except for on
their system... But they say it's an international standard... But can anyone
tell me where I can get a PD emulator, or the address of somewhere to order a
commercial emulator would be fine also... Thanks!

Whew, took me all day, but I did it! =)

I'd like to see a NAPLPS implementation on the Amiga, but I don't know of one.
NAPLPS is a North American standard with many fuzzy edges. The now-defunct
Viewtron communications service worked with VT-100 and NAPLPS (Viewtron
offered a C64 implementation). A member of their staff was on the standards
committee; he estimated a minimum 1-year development period to implement
NAPLPS on the Amiga. It is basically a resolution-independent vector graphics
communications protocol.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the NAPLPS standard? :-)
